It’s important to come together.
There is no substitute for hav- ing contact and sharing ideas with like-minded people who face the same challenges, frustra- tions, joys and successes as we
do. One way the forest products community does this each and every year is by staging the Great Lakes Logging and Heavy Equipment Expo. Now in its 73rd year, 2018’s event will return to Oshkosh, Wis., on Sept. 6- 8 at the Sunnyview Expo Center.
This is an event we look forward to every year — whether it’s held in Oshkosh or Escanaba in the Upper Peninsula. It’s always a time and place to share knowledge, cama- raderie, and to just have a good time.
This year’s event once again promises not to disappoint.
Bringing the forest products community together is also something that we strive to do here at Great Lakes Logging Magazine. In each issue, you will find profiles of your fellow loggers and forestry professionals — people who share the same hopes and hardships you do. We hope that by telling their stories and the stories of their business ventures that we can all find common ground in our own experi- ences.
In this issue, we profile Born Logging, K&J Lumber Products, and Kleiman Forest Products just to name a few. We also take a trip to the Upper Peninsula State Fair to visit the popular Growing UP Foresters exhibit, which is permanently housed at the fair- grounds. It is one of the best exhibits we have seen in teaching the general public about the important role forestry and and the forest
products industry plays in their lives.
We hope you enjoy visiting your colleagues
and friends in the pages of this issue. And don’t forget to see them in person at the Great Lakes Logging and Heavy Equipment Expo in Oshkosh Sept. 6-8.
See you at the Expo.
